Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Impel Tech (“Impel Tech”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website, contact us, or use software we build and operate, including the Zync suite of products.
We keep the data we collect to what we actually need, and we do not sell it. By using our website or services, you agree to the practices described here.
01Information we collect
We collect information in three ways:
- Information you give us. When you request a quote, reach us on WhatsApp, email, or phone, or sign up for one of our products, you may share your name, business name, email address, phone number, and the details of your enquiry.
- Information from using our software. When you use a product such as Zync Ledger, we process the business data you enter, for example accounting records, invoices, inventory, and user accounts, so the product can do its job. For our software clients, this data is handled under the agreement we have with you.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records basic technical details such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring links, through the analytics tools described below.
02How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your enquiries and provide quotes and proposals.
- Deliver, operate, support, and improve our software and services.
- Set up and manage accounts, subscriptions, and billing.
- Communicate with you about updates, changes, and support matters.
- Keep our website and products secure and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
03Cookies and analytics
We use analytics to understand how our website is used and to improve it. This includes Google Analytics, which sets cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location, and the device and browser you use. Google processes that information under its own privacy policy, and may combine it with data from its other services.
We also use a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool for simple aggregate insights, which does not set tracking cookies or follow you across other websites.
You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's opt-out browser add-on. Some features may not work correctly if you disable cookies. Any essential cookies we use exist only to make the site or a product work.
04How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited situations:
- Service providers. Third parties that host our infrastructure, process payments, send communications, or provide analytics on our behalf, and only to the extent needed to perform those services.
- Payment processors. Payments for our products are handled by established third-party payment providers. We do not store your full card details on our own systems.
- Legal reasons. Where we are required to by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid government request, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If our business or a product is reorganised, merged, or acquired, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
05Data security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, including access controls, encryption in transit, and hosting with reputable providers.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will act promptly and notify you where required.
06Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, to provide our services, and to meet legal, accounting, and tax requirements. When we no longer need it, we delete it or anonymise it.
07Your rights
Subject to Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022, and any other applicable law, you may ask us to access, correct, update, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to restrict or object to certain uses. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before we act on it.
Where we process business data on behalf of a client using our software, requests from that client's own users are handled first through the client, who controls that data.
08Third-party links
Our website and products may link to third-party sites and services that we do not control. This policy does not apply to them, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please review their policies before sharing information with them.
09Children's privacy
Our website and products are intended for businesses and adults. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, let you know. Continuing to use our website or services after a change means you accept the updated policy.
